Madrigal Pharmaceuticals Corporation is a pioneering biopharmaceutical company focused on developing novel therapeutics for non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH). Our flagship therapy, Rezdiffra (resmetirom), has been granted accelerated approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for adults with NASH and moderate to advanced liver fibrosis.

As a key member of our team, you will be at the forefront of harnessing the power of Generative AI to drive innovation within the pharmaceutical industry. Your expertise will be instrumental in creating cutting-edge experiences that showcase the value of Large Language Models (LLMs) in enhancing our organization's capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership and Vision:
    • Leverage your technical expertise to develop and manage our Generative AI roadmap, identifying critical business problems that can be addressed using this technology.
    • Define and implement strategies for integrating Generative AI across various departments, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.
    • Lead discussions in peer reviews and use data-driven insights to inform decision-making.
  • Solution Architecture and Design:
    • Evaluate the optimal level of LLM complexity for diverse use cases, ensuring seamless integration with our existing infrastructure.
    • Establish technical standards and blueprints for Generative AI scenarios, driving consistency and efficiency.
    • Lead prompt engineering efforts to optimize LLM performance, refining user experiences through iterative testing.
  • Advanced Analytics, Data Science, and Machine Learning:
    • Demonstrate expertise in machine/deep learning, generative AI, and statistical modeling, spearheading fine-tuning of LLMs and building Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems.
    • Develop and embed automated processes for predictive model validation, deployment, and implementation, maximizing the value of LLMs.
    • Influence the AI/ML stack, including Feature Stores, Model Stores, and automated MLOps, to drive scalability and efficiency.
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging machine learning methodologies, making impactful contributions to internal discussions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Foster close relationships with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, data engineers, and research scientists, to deliver features iteratively.
    • Lead internal and external developers in executing the Generative AI roadmap, driving project momentum.
    • Connect and collaborate with subject matter experts across different business areas, ensuring seamless communication and cooperation.
  • Continuous Learning and Innovation:
    • Combine business acumen, analytical skills, and programming knowledge to quickly cycle hypotheses through the discovery phase of projects.
    • Present findings clearly and concisely through excellent written and communication skills, driving informed decision-making.
    • Stay current with the latest advancements in Large Language Models (LLMs), applying them to enhance business outcomes.

Compensation Package:

We offer a highly competitive compensation package, including an estimated annual salary of $180,000, which may include additional elements such as bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits. Benefits also include flexible paid time off (PTO), medical, dental, vision, and life and disability insurance.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) in Engineering, Statistics, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Bioinformatics, or a related quantitative field.
  • 10+ years of experience in Python, SQL, R, MATLAB, PyTorch, Keras, and git.
  • 8+ years of experience in ML/deep learning, including hands-on experience with LLM fine-tuning and/or training (e.g., ChatGPT, BERT, Bard, LLaMA, Dolly).
  • 8+ years of experience in data visualization and creating dashboards/web applications using Python and R-based tools (Dash, Streamlit, Shiny).
  • 8+ years of experience in data manipulation, integration, writing complex queries, and creating data products.
  • 8+ years of implementing AI/ML systems using platforms like Databricks or Dataiku.
  • Strong understanding of cloud-based data platforms and technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and their application in building scalable and efficient analytics solutions.
  • Proven experience in machine learning and software engineering best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability in writing and presenting papers, documentation, and presentations to explain research findings.
  • Fluency in English.
