We are seeking a part-time Wellness Specialist to join our team at Passaic County Community College.

Job Summary

The Wellness Specialist will provide support to students by offering case management, screening, and referral services to community resources. The Specialist will also assist in designing and implementing programming on wellness topics, including mental and emotional health, suicide prevention, healthy relationships, violence prevention, anti-hazing, and drug and alcohol education.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support Student Wellness: Collaborate with the wellness staff to create a safe space for students experiencing mental health issues, food and housing insecurity, and intimate partner violence.
  • Community Outreach: Work with campus organizations to expand the utilization of Wellness Center services.
  • Student Support: Greet and triage students referred or self-referred to the office, and provide support for students in locating community resources.
  • Program Development: Design and implement programming on campus to provide students with resources and information on wellness-related topics.
  • Resource Provision: Provide the College community with information on wellness and prevention resources.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in a social work program preferred.
  • Certification: Certified Social Worker in the State of New Jersey preferred.
  • Experience: One (1) or two (2) years' experience working with individuals from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, and ethnic background, and to maintain good working relationships across the College.
  • Cultural Competence: Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic background of community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities.
  • Knowledge of Community Resources: Familiarity with mental health and community resources within Passaic County.

The completion of a background check will be required for the selected candidate.
