PACU Nurse Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate PACU Nurse to join our team at Nicklaus Children's Health System. As a PACU Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in the post-anesthesia care unit.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Recover patients from anesthesia and provide airway management in collaboration with the anesthesia team.
  • Monitor surgical sites and perform post-surgical assessments to ensure proper healing and prevent complications.
  • Administer medications and provide direct patient care, including vital sign monitoring and pain management.
  • Collaborate with the medical staff to review post-operative orders and ensure timely and efficient care.
  • Document patient progress and communicate critical findings to the physician and other healthcare team members.
Requirements:
  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the State of Florida or Multi-State Enhanced Nursing License Compact (eNLC).
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within one year of hire.
  • AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within one year of hire.
  • One year of experience as an RN, preferably in a pediatric setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree or currently enrolled in a BSN program.
  • National certification as a Certified Pediatric Nurse (CPN) or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in computers and electronic medical records (EMRs).
