Pharmacy Assistant

The Pharmacy Technician will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to receive, verify, and enter prescription orders into the pharmacy computer application. The successful candidate will process refill requests, answer telephone calls, and serve as a liaison with customer healthcare centers. This role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Enter orders accurately into patient medication profiles in the pharmacy computer application
• Contact healthcare center staff to clarify clerical issues
• Process refill requests and generate labels and reports as required
• Answer telephone calls promptly and direct calls to appropriate staff
• Organize and prioritize work assignments
• Assist with processing of prior authorizations and non-covered medications
• Document prior authorizations as required
• Maintain updated controlled substance files
Requirements:
• High School diploma or GED
• Current Certified Pharmacy Technician certification preferred – State of Georgia
• National Pharmacy Technician Certification preferred
• 3 years pharmacy experience preferred
• Familiarity with medical terminology
• Excellent communication skills
