Production Operations Manager

Position SummaryOur facility in Accomac, VA is seeking a dynamic production leader to oversee the effectiveness and efficiency of a segment within our processing plant. This role involves guiding, training, and mentoring Team Leaders, as well as indirectly supporting hourly production staff. The aim is to meet the company's established objectives for production activities while ensuring a safe and secure working environment for all personnel.
Key Responsibilities- Establish and monitor operating and capital budgets for the designated area to maintain competitive industry positioning.
- Achieve all operational targets, ensuring metrics such as yield, birds per man-hour, pounds per man-hour, line efficiency, and quality indicators are consistently met.
- Implement strategies to reduce employee turnover, enhance safety performance as indicated by the Safety Scorecard, and foster an environment that promotes the facility as the Employer of Choice.
- Facilitate ongoing training to enhance supervisory skills among staff and improve the capabilities of hourly production associates, maximizing both individual and team performance.
- Continuously innovate processes to enhance operational performance, product quality, and customer satisfaction.
- Support the company's annual goals regarding People, Products, Profitability, and Planet through effective planning and communication, emphasizing efficiency and effectiveness among all team members.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Poultry Science, Animal Science, Agriculture, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Experience: 3-5 years of relevant work experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required. Familiarity with industry-standard procedures such as HACCP and SPC, as well as plant efficiency metrics, is essential. A proven history of leadership and achieving results is necessary. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and protocols are required. Prior supervisory experience is a must, along with a strong customer service orientation and excellent communication skills across all organizational levels.
Environmental ConsiderationsThis role may involve light lifting of equipment or supplies and accessing various files and materials. In a plant environment, exposure may include wet floors, temperature variations from 28 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit, and noise levels ranging from 50 to 110 decibels. Compliance with safety protocols and use of protective equipment is mandatory.
