Key Responsibilities
  • Team Management: Supervise and manage the coding team, providing guidance and training to staff to ensure accurate and timely coding of diagnoses and procedures.
  • Coding Compliance: Review and audit coded records for compliance with coding standards and regulatory requirements, addressing and resolving discrepancies.
  • Regulatory Expertise: Ensure adherence to healthcare regulations and proper documentation practices, managing health information records in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
  • Process Improvement: Analyze and improve coding processes and workflows to enhance efficiency and accuracy, generating reports on coding productivity and compliance.
Requirements
  • Education: Associate's or bachelor's degree in health information management, medical coding, or a related field preferred.
  • Certifications: RHIA or RHIT degree strongly preferred, with certification from a recognized body such as the Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) required.
  • Experience: Proven experience in medical coding with a strong understanding of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems, along with previous supervisory or management experience.
  • Skills: Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills to effectively manage the coding team, address discrepancies, and coordinate with other departments.
