Job Summary

The Custodian 2 position is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitary conditions of University Recreation facilities. This includes performing routine manual tasks such as sweeping, mopping, and dusting, as well as operating cleaning equipment and transporting waste materials.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clean and maintain restrooms, offices, classrooms, stairwells, elevators, hallways, and other assigned areas.
  • Empty trash and recycling containers and transport waste material to outdoor refuse containers or recycling containers as appropriate.
  • Operate assigned cleaning equipment based on the job to be done and at the manufacturer's recommendation for use.
  • Willingly share information with department teammates to provide high-quality outcomes that contribute to student success.
  • Maintain positive co-worker relationships and foster an environment of trust and inclusion.
Requirements
  • Six months of experience in custodial, housekeeping, grounds keeping, or food service work.
  • Must be capable of walking around a 250,000 square foot building multiple times daily to access conference rooms, lobbies, and entrances.
  • Must also be able to ascend and descend the stairs of a 3-story building multiple times daily and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be capable of stooping, kneeling, and crouching to pick up litter and train employees to clean restrooms, offices, lobbies, and clean and maintain floors.
Additional Information

This position may be asked to work during an official closure, but who is otherwise not required to report to the physical campus during a closure and whose absence does not present a risk to the safety, resources, and well-being of the campus.
