Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Custodian 1 or 2 to join our team at Louisiana State University. As a key member of our facilities operations team, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitary conditions of our residence halls and apartments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clean and maintain residence hall lobbies, bathrooms, hallways, and other assigned areas
  • Empty trash and recycling containers and transport waste material to outdoor refuse containers or recycling containers as appropriate
  • Clean, strip, wax, and polish floors using industrial size mops and/or commercial type floor machines
  • Operate wet/dry vacuum, carpet extraction equipment, and other commercial equipment as required for cleaning and shampooing carpets or cleaning up after water leaks or floods
  • Wash building exteriors, windows, walls, fixtures, steps, and sidewalks using power washers, pressure sprayers, commercial window washing equipment, cleaning solutions, or other related equipment and materials
  • Unlock/lock campus buildings utilizing assigned building, room, and master keys
Requirements
  • No experience or training required for Custodian 1
  • Six months of experience in custodial, housekeeping, grounds keeping, or food service required for Custodian 2
  • Must be capable of walking around a 10,000 square foot building multiple times daily and be able to ascend and descend the stairs of a 5 story building multiple times daily
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time and be capable of stooping, kneeling, and crouching
Working Conditions

This position is considered essential and may be required to report or stay on campus in the event of an emergency or closure. A pre-employment physical examination will be required per FASOP: HR-04.
