Overview
The Integrated Performance Therapist is a multi-credentialed professional, possessing qualifications in areas such as physical therapy, athletic training, chiropractic care, or strength and conditioning coaching. This role emphasizes a performance therapy approach, combining various soft tissue and manual therapy techniques, alongside the application of sports science methodologies to facilitate rehabilitation and optimize return-to-play strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Injury Management:
- Collaborate with athletic training, performance science, and strength and conditioning teams, as well as other specialists, to ensure a safe and effective return to play for athletes.
- Gather, analyze, and interpret sports science data to support athlete management and performance enhancement initiatives.
- Utilize objective metrics to inform exercise selection and training regimens aimed at injury prevention and performance recovery.
Communication with Players and Staff:
- Foster respectful relationships with athletes while prioritizing their health and safety.
- Communicate any relevant information that may impact the organization’s competitive edge to senior management.
Manual Therapy and Soft Tissue Techniques:
- Implement a variety of soft tissue and manual therapy methods to support athlete recovery and enhance performance in both training and rehabilitation settings.
Training Room Oversight:
- Establish and uphold training room protocols and standards.
- Ensure the training environment is maintained to high standards of cleanliness and professionalism.
Professional Development:
- Stay informed about the latest advancements in training methodologies and participate in relevant industry conferences, seminars, and workshops.
- Maintain required Continuing Education Units (CEUs) to uphold professional standards.
Community Engagement:
- Represent the organization in a professional manner both within the workplace and in community interactions.
Success Metrics:
- Evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of departmental practices in managing athlete health and performance.

- Demonstrate the ability to effectively manage challenges and setbacks.

Qualifications:
- Doctorate in Physical Therapy, Doctor of Chiropractic, or Master’s in Athletic Training with the ability to obtain the necessary state licensure.
- Additional certification as a Strength and Conditioning Coach (NSCA CSCS) or as a Sport Scientist (Master’s or PhD in a related field).
- Experience in high-performance environments, such as professional sports, international athletics, NCAA, or elite military settings.
- Current CPR/AED certification.
