Role Overview:
Reporting to the Section Leader of Mammography/Sonography, the Diagnostic Sonographer employs high-frequency sound waves and various diagnostic methods to facilitate medical evaluations. This role involves the production and assessment of ultrasound images and associated data.
Essential Qualifications:
Educational Background:
Completion of an accredited educational program that qualifies for ARDMS registry eligibility.
Professional Experience:
Prior experience in sonography is highly preferred.
Licensure and Certification:
Current ARDMS registration or ARDMS eligibility with certification obtained within one year of employment.
BLS Certification:
Healthcare provider certification is mandatory.
Required Skills:
Proficiency in ultrasound scanning across various modalities including vascular, OBGYN, abdominal, and small parts is essential. Candidates must demonstrate an understanding of medical, radiological, and sonographic terminology in both oral and written forms. A solid grasp of cross-sectional anatomy and its correlation with anatomical structures is necessary, along with the ability to identify pathological conditions. Effective communication in English, computer literacy, and the capacity to maintain confidentiality are also required.
