Job Summary

Franciscan Medical Group is seeking a dedicated Peer Counselor to join our team at the Franciscan WIC Clinic in Lakewood. As a Peer Counselor, you will play a vital role in providing breastfeeding support and education to pregnant and breastfeeding mothers.

Responsibilities
  • Provide peer-level support to breastfeeding mothers to help them meet their breastfeeding goals.
  • Deliver basic breastfeeding information and support to clients during pregnancy and post-partum.
  • Help clients prevent and handle common breastfeeding concerns and refer them to Lactation Consultants or other professionals for complex issues or diagnosis.
  • Keep accurate and timely records and paperwork.
  • Manage time appropriately and efficiently within the parameters set by the peer counselor project.
Qualifications
  • Any combination of education and work experience that would demonstrate attainment of the requisite job knowledge/abilities.
  • Experience with the WIC program preferred.
  • Reliable transportation and cell phone required.
