Practical Nursing Specialist

The Practical Nursing Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting Current USA's residential initiatives and acts as a medical liaison for the interdisciplinary team (IDT). This position involves updating the individualized care plans for each resident and maintaining comprehensive medical records, ensuring collaboration with Current USA personnel in the planning and execution of these plans. A valid New York State Licensed Practical Nurse certification is essential.
Compensation: $23.15-$27.78/hour
Key Responsibilities:
- Engages in IDT meetings as necessary.
- Collaborates with the RN Supervisor to develop and adjust individualized care plans.
- Keeps detailed medical records for each resident.
- Participates in the training and development of Current USA staff as appropriate.
- Accompanies residents to medical appointments as required.
- Ensures effective medical follow-up through an on-call system.
- Administers and manages medication in accordance with established protocols.
- Attends monthly nursing meetings to discuss care strategies.
- Completes necessary incident reporting documentation.
- Ensures adherence to OPWDD regulatory standards.
- Acts as a liaison with family members regarding health-related concerns.
- Prepares monthly Medication Administration Records.
- Available for 24-hour on-call medical emergencies with rotating weekend duties.
- Must possess a valid New York State Licensed Practical Nurse License.
- New York State Driver's License is preferred.
- Familiarity with OPWDD Regulations is advantageous.
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities is preferred.
