Job Summary

Touro University New York is seeking a highly qualified individual to fill the position of Associate/Assistant Professor of Chemistry and Physics. This is a full-time appointment at the rank of Associate Professor, with the possibility of consideration for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor for a qualified candidate.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teaching: The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Organic Chemistry 1 and 2 (lab and lecture), General Chemistry 1 and 2 (lab and lecture), and advanced courses within their area of expertise.
  • Advisement: The candidate will provide academic advisement to undergraduate students.
  • Service: The appointee will be expected to contribute to the department, university, and community through service, including but not limited to textbook selection, course and lab design, and committee work.
Qualifications
  • A Doctor of Philosophy in Chemistry is required.
  • A Doctor of Philosophy in Biochemistry is required.
  • A proven track record of research involving undergraduate students, as demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications and presentations, is required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • The successful candidate must have the ability to develop positive and cooperative relationships with students, faculty, and colleagues.
  • Familiarity with online learning platforms, including Banner, Canvas, Blackboard, and Adobe Connect, is required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in communication, both written and verbal, is required.
  • Familiarity with chemical laboratory safety issues is essential.
  • The ability to design and implement novel teaching lab modalities is required.
  • The ability to set up and maintain a research program involving undergraduate students is essential.
Work Environment
  • The position is located primarily at our Brooklyn campus, with occasional teaching at our other undergraduate campuses in the New York area.
Compensation

The salary range for this position is $63,106.00 to $78,883.00 per year.
