Job DescriptionWe are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Technician II to join our team at Veolia North America. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, repairing, and installing mechanical, electromechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment at our plant and pump stations.
Key Responsibilities:- Inspect and perform mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, or pneumatic troubleshooting to determine repairs needed.
- Estimate time and material costs for assigned projects.
- Dismantle equipment to gain access to and repair defective parts using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring and testing devices.
- Re-assemble and test equipment to ensure safe and efficient operating condition is restored.
- Inspect flow meters, gauges, flow ratios, pressures, and related controls on instrument panels, computer terminals, and programmable logic control units and diagnose basic operational problems.
- Take corrective action per procedure in assigned area.
- Verify and report suspected malfunctions and variances to supervisor.
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance, lubrication, and minor adjustments on machines and related equipment.
- May fabricate devices and assemblies from steel.
- May weld, thread pipe, and solder using gas and electric equipment.
- Perform routine instrument calibration for portable meters.
- Perform facility maintenance and repair and may replace or install damaged glass, windows, doors, partitions, ceiling or floor tile, door locks, carpet, and/or paint.
- Perform manual labor including cleaning equipment, facilities, and grounds as required and properly dispose of waste according to safety and environmental policies.
- Operate vehicles for plant operational purposes.
- High school or GED with the ability to read, write, and comprehend English.
- Two to five years of experience in a related position in a similar environment.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Some vocational training and mechanical aptitude required.
- Must demonstrate proficiency in the care and use of all site-specific, facility-required PPE.
- Must consistently demonstrate the ability to perform all assigned tasks in an accurate and timely manner.
- Must demonstrate ability to efficiently maintain, install, and repair a variety of equipment.
- Must demonstrate ability to use precision measuring devices, testing equipment, and shop tools.
- Must demonstrate the ability to inspect and diagnose process problems in multiple unit processes.
- Must demonstrate ability to accurately estimate time and material costs for assigned projects.
- Steel fabrication and welding experience may be required, if necessary, at site.
- Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
- Must have ability to operate Computer Maintenance Management System (software).
- Must demonstrate ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily.
- Minimum water/wastewater license as required by regulatory site.
- Valid driver's license (commercial license is desirable) and a safe driving record.
- Employee Orientation, Departmental Operating Procedures, Safety, OSHA, and Quality Training.
- HAZWOPER (Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response) Level I and II First Responder Certification.
- Training in operation of mechanical drives, hydraulic pumps, and valves, pneumatics, electronics, and control systems.
- Obtain or maintain HVAC, Electrician, Plumber's, or other trade License if assigned to that area.
- Forklift Certification if required by site.
Spends 100% of the time in operations environment. Typically spends % of time exposed to outdoor and sometimes inclement weather. Company service vehicles are used as required. Travels 1 - 2 times per year for company-provided training. May serve rotational 24-hour emergency on-call. Possible work hazards: May be exposed to possible operations hazards including fumes, dust, toxic and caustic chemicals, noise, rotating machinery, high pressure, and hot and cold temperatures, slippery surfaces, water, and electrical hazards.
