Job Summary

Nash Community College is seeking a highly skilled Accounting Technician to join our team. As an Accounting Technician, you will be responsible for performing a variety of accounting and financial tasks, including purchasing, fixed assets, and other accounting duties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and process various journal entries as required.
  • Process purchase orders and track outstanding purchase orders for receipt of items.
  • Assist with annual fixed asset inventory and prepare monthly fixed asset inventory reports.
  • Provide and affix equipment tags to all fixed assets and maintain a systematic property record.
  • Record state equipment budget and monitor throughout the year.
  • Initiate paperwork for acquisition, disposal, and transfer of fixed assets.
  • Prepare for and conduct sales of surplus property.
  • Prepare quarterly HUB purchasing report and annual reports such as Purchasing Flexibility and Solid Waste Management reports.
  • Serve as Purchasing Card Administrator, issuing new P-cards, training users, reconciling transactions, and tracking rebate purchases.
Requirements
  • Associate's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related area from a regionally accredited institution.
  • At least one year of experience in accounting and computer applications, with a focus on procurement.
  • Experience using Ellucian Colleague and NC E-Procurement is preferred.
  • Prior experience working in a NC Community College Business Office and knowledge of state procurement policies and procedures are also preferred.
