About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Model Based Systems Engineer to join our team at The MITRE Corporation. As a key member of our Emerging Systems Engineering Technologies Department, you will play a critical role in identifying, developing, and applying new technologies to address the Government's most challenging Systems Engineering problems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead tasks and projects to accomplish project objectives and address sponsor problems
  • Model architectures of complex systems using standards-based languages such as SysML and UML
  • Evaluate and compare alternative architectures using qualitative and quantitative techniques
  • Communicate cost-benefit analysis, ROI, and analysis of alternatives to sponsors to enable informed decisions
  • Articulate major uncertainties associated with systems architectures, define risks and opportunities, and support requirements management, interface management, and architecture change management processes
  • Translate analysis results into actionable recommendations for US Government agencies
  • Develop prototypes using Java, Python, and related programming languages
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field, with 8+ years of applicable systems engineering experience
  • US citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a US clearance
  • Hands-on proficiency with SysML, UML, and other modeling tools, as well as Java, Python, and related programming languages
  • Documented success using Cameo/MagicDraw, Doors, and similar packages
  • Solid knowledge of systems architecture and systems design and development
  • Documented ingenuity for applying technical skills across multiple subject matter domains supporting Department of Defense customers
  • Experience with multi-disciplinary modeling and simulation (physics-level, engineering-level, and/or operational-level)
  • Project-based teamwork experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, and Word
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in a technical field of study
  • Current clearance
  • Track record of leadership in SE innovation, research, and publishing
  • Demonstrated technical management for SE projects requiring cross-disciplinary collaboration
  • Knowledge of Analysis of Alternatives, Verification and Validation, Design of Experiments, and data analytics
  • Experience with Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning in the context of engineering AI/ML systems and/or utilizing AI/ML to evolve the practice of Systems Engineering
