Responsibilities
  • Assist with patient care and safety in the Emergency Room
  • Take and record vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rates
  • Record intake and outputs as directed by nursing staff
  • Perform urinary catheterization and document accordingly
  • Set up areas for sterile procedures and document as needed
  • Assist with minor orthopedic splinting under the direction of a physician assistant
  • Document any skin breakdowns and notify RN
  • Remove IV catheters and document accordingly
  • Transcribe, document, and transmit physician orders and other pertinent information
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Certification as a Nursing Assistant I or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
  • Three to six months of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Working Conditions

This is a part-time position with a standard schedule of 24 hours per week. The work environment is fast-paced and dynamic, with a focus on providing high-quality patient care. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively in a team environment and communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare staff.

This position is employed by UNC Health (Rex Healthcare, Inc., d/b/a NC Health), a private, fully-owned subsidiary of UNC Health Care System.
