Position Overview:
This role involves responsibilities associated with the operations of the Laboratory Licensure and Certification Office. The incumbent will assist in the issuance of licenses to clinical laboratories by verifying adherence to essential standards of proficiency, methodology, quality assurance, operational practices, and safety protocols. The position requires conducting both initial and routine inspections of laboratories and facilities to assess compliance with applicable Federal Regulations and state statutes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct inspections to ensure compliance with relevant statutes, regulations, and internal procedures, including necessary travel and accommodations.
- Monitor and review assigned quality systems, ensuring thorough tracking of documents, corrective actions, and quality data.
- Engage in meetings with staff, advisory committees, and laboratory organizations to stay updated on industry standards.
- Participate in investigations as required and solicit feedback from clients regarding services provided.
- Perform additional duties as assigned related to the position.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
The ideal candidate will possess:
- In-depth knowledge of federal regulations and state statutes concerning laboratory testing and general laboratory operations.
- Familiarity with Performance Management (PM), Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI), and Lean methodologies.
- Strong skills in reviewing professional literature, excellent oral and written communication, analytical thinking, and interpersonal relations.
- The ability to adapt to changing priorities, engage in problem-solving, and work independently while performing laboratory testing reviews and data analysis.
- A commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment that promotes equal opportunity.
Preferred Qualifications:
A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in laboratory science with at least three years of relevant experience in the laboratory field.
Pre-Employment Requirements:
Candidates must possess a valid driver's license and be willing to travel as necessary. State, Federal, or National certification in the relevant field must be obtained within one year of employment.
