Job Summary

Acuity International is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nurse Anesthetist to join our team in Baghdad, Iraq. As a key member of our medical team, you will be responsible for administering anesthetics to patients undergoing medical, dental, and surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer anesthetics to patients undergoing medical, dental, and surgical procedures
  • Monitor patients' vital signs and communicate information to physicians
  • Perform tasks such as inserting artificial airways, administering oxygen, and attempting to prevent surgical shock
  • Assist with stabilization of patients and coordination of evacuation to a medical facility
  • Develop and implement standard operating instructions and practices pertaining to the administration and management of anesthetics
  • Select and prescribe post-anesthesia medications or treatments to patients
  • Evaluate patients' post-surgical or post-anesthesia responses and take appropriate corrective actions
  • Monitor the effects of specific anesthesia, drugs, techniques, and patient reactions
  • Perform or evaluate the results of diagnostic tests such as radiographs (x-rays) and electrocardiograms (EKGs)
  • Manage patients' airway or pulmonary status using techniques such as endotracheal intubation, mechanical ventilation, pharmacological support, respiratory therapy, and extubation
Requirements
  • Must have completed an accredited Nursing training program leading to a diploma, certification, or bachelor's degree
  • Must have completed an accredited Nurse Anesthetist school in the US resulting in a diploma or master's degree
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience as a licensed Nurse Anesthetist
  • Must hold and maintain a current unrestricted U.S. (State) Medical license as a Nurse Anesthetist
  • Must hold a current certification by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRBA)
  • Must have and maintain current certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Must have a current U.S. Passport
  • Must have a valid, current U.S. Driver's License
  • Must be current in all required certifications
  • Must be proficient in the ability to speak, write, and communicate in English
Working Conditions

The work environment is typically interior/office work environment, with travel in Iraq required by surface or air. The successful candidate must be confirmed by a medical examination to be medically and dentally fit in accordance with Acuity Medical Readiness Guidelines and Policies.
