About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Crisis Intervention Specialist to join our team at Communities In Schools of Southeast Harris and Brazoria County. As a Crisis Intervention Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing support and guidance to students and families in need.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate services for identified students and families, ensuring they receive the necessary support and resources.
- Conduct interviews with students and/or parents/guardians to assess their needs and develop effective plans for meeting those needs.
- Secure information about medical, psychological, and social factors contributing to a student's situation and evaluate these factors to determine the best course of action.
- Counsel students individually, in family, or in small groups to help them develop coping strategies and improve their social functioning.
- Maintain a working knowledge of community resources and agencies, connecting students and families with the services they need.
- Compile records and prepare reports, meeting required deadlines promptly.
- Review service action plans and follow up with students, parents, and guardians to ensure they are receiving the necessary support.
Requirements:
- Masters Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field (strongly preferred).
- Licensure in psychology or social work (or a related field) is required.
- Minimum of three years of experience in a work setting, with a focus on working with students and families in need.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups.
- Ability to work in a team environment and maintain confidentiality when working with sensitive information.
