Waggoner Engineering is actively seeking a qualified individual for the role of Water/Wastewater Resources Engineer. This position is essential for providing expert technical assistance to municipal authorities and engaging in a diverse array of projects. Responsibilities will include monitoring changes in federal, state, and local regulations that affect public drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater systems, as well as creating and executing regional initiatives to meet regulatory and permitting standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Possess knowledge of design regulations, operational challenges, and management of public drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater systems.
- Develop assessment methodologies, including GIS analysis; collect and analyze intricate data; and produce comprehensive technical reports on water resource planning and management issues.
- Offer leadership and technical support on water resource planning and execution, along with related regulatory matters to local, state, and other public agency officials.
Qualifications:
- Familiarity with the structure and responsibilities of public utilities, public works, and planning departments in local governments.
- Ability to prepare and present technical reports and convey complex concepts effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Creative problem-solving skills to gather relevant information and address less clearly defined practical challenges.
- Proficiency in ArcGIS, including map development skills and familiarity with spatial analysis and other analytical tools; comfort with ArcHydro is preferred.
- Experience in the design of water and wastewater treatment facilities, hydraulic modeling, and pumping system design.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D software.
Education & Experience:
- A Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering from an accredited institution is preferred.
- 3-5 years of relevant design and operational experience is ideal.
- Experience in local government settings is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of cost estimation, permitting, and construction processes is advantageous.
- Professional Engineer registration is preferred or must be obtained within one year of employment.
- Certification as a Class IV Wastewater Operator is highly desirable, but other classifications will be considered.
- Familiarity with CityWorks is a plus.
