Job Summary

The Rapid Response Registered Nurse Manager will support the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in disaster response operations and manage temporary facility support services. This role requires developing and implementing protocols and processes to optimize the team's response time, improve patient outcomes, and enhance communication among various departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides critical care expertise for patients who demonstrate signs of imminent clinical deterioration
  • Administers medications, treatments, and procedures as prescribed by physicians or healthcare providers
  • Educates patients on managing health conditions, medications, and preventive measures
  • Maintains accurate and updated patient records, including progress notes, medication administration, and test results
  • Monitors and ensures patient safety, identifying and reporting any changes in condition or potential risks
  • Oversees medical triage, treatment, and evaluations
  • Adheres to Quality Assurance and Quality Control, SOPs, and Site Manager guidance and direction
  • Creates site-specific medical plans and ensures HIPAA-compliant security and storage of medical documentation
  • Manages all medical administration and record keeping
  • Provides timely coordination with medical staff to ensure proper reviews and notifications of utility outages and facility tasks
  • Ensures all medical personnel follow all processes and guidelines
  • Provide daily reports and logs to Site Manager
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in Nursing
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience providing critical care preferably within a disaster rapid response environment
  • Travel Nurses with FEMA or HHS experience preferred
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) communication skills are not required but preferred
  • Working knowledge of the medical design criteria, the Uniform Facility Criteria (UFC's)
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively via oral and written means
  • Ability to remain calm in the midst of difficult circumstances and emergencies
  • Ability to provide medical care within a difficult environment
  • Ability to disseminate information and ensure it is processed properly
  • Advanced knowledge of disaster services and community resources; Federal, state, tribal and territorial disaster assistance programs, housing & utility assistance
  • Proficient in utilizing Outlook, Word and Excel; PowerPoint, and SharePoint
  • The ability to successfully pass a drug screen and a federal background check is mandatory
  • Past applicable job experience may include, but is not limited to: Rapid Response Team Member, ER Nurse Manager, or Critical Care Nurse Manager
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
