Job Summary:

We are seeking a Global Trade Compliance Specialist to join our team. This position focuses on implementing international trade compliance activities into daily business operations, conducting compliance assessments, and working with internal stakeholders to ensure proper processes, procedures, and authorizations are in place.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as primary trade controls contact with the parent company and stakeholders, ensuring communication and collaboration.
  • Serve as the designated Empowered Official responsible for ensuring compliance with U.S. trade control laws and regulations, including ITAR, EAR, OFAC, and Customs.
  • Identify functions impacted or involved in trade control related activities and utilize a process to ensure proper jurisdiction/classifications have been assigned and are being maintained and managed.
  • Stay current with evolving trade regulations, tariffs, and sanctions to ensure all import and export activities comply with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Ensure the performance of export and import transactions are conducted in a compliant manner.
  • Implement a process to ensure authorizations are planned for in advance, obtained, and properly activated before use and deploy a recordkeeping management and reporting process for required records and reports.
  • Monitor compliance activities, assist with self-assessments, and ensure potential noncompliance issues are addressed.
  • Analyze the applicability of global trade control requirements to business programs.
  • Develop and deploy regulatory documentation for business programs, which may include multiple agencies and authorization types.
  • Partner on initiatives in a collaborative environment.
  • Ensure accurate classification of goods under Harmonized System (HS) codes and correct valuation for duties and taxes calculation.
  • Liaise with customs authorities, couriers' agents, and other external departments regularly to facilitate smooth trade flows.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree with 4+ years of experience in a role directly related to trade compliance, import and export regulations (ITAR/EAR), customs brokerage, freight forwarding/logistics, or global trade controls and integrating cross-functional teams. In lieu of a bachelor's degree, the candidate must have over 8+ years of relevant experience.

Desired Characteristics/Skills:

  • Experience with Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) SNAP-R licensing platform.
  • Experience with SAP system.
  • Strong MS Excel skills.
  • Experience developing and delivering presentations to Senior Leaders: interacting with all levels of leadership.
  • Experience with U.S. Government contracts, proposals, and/or contract terms related to import/export.
  • Experience with conducting customer/supplier screening and due diligence.
  • Experience in developing and delivering training materials.
  • Experience with Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS)/Schedule B Coding.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher.
