Position Summary:
We are currently seeking a Global Trade Compliance Specialist to enhance our team. This role is pivotal in embedding international trade compliance activities into our daily operations, conducting thorough compliance evaluations, and collaborating with various internal stakeholders to ensure that all necessary processes, procedures, and authorizations are effectively implemented.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary liaison for trade control matters with the parent company and relevant stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
- Act as the designated Empowered Official, responsible for adherence to U.S. trade control laws and regulations, including ITAR, EAR, OFAC, and Customs.
- Identify all functions impacted by trade control activities and ensure proper jurisdiction and classifications are maintained.
- Stay informed on evolving trade regulations, tariffs, and sanctions to guarantee compliance in all import and export operations.
- Oversee the execution of export and import transactions, ensuring compliance with applicable laws.
- Establish a systematic approach for obtaining necessary authorizations in advance and maintain a robust recordkeeping and reporting process.
- Monitor compliance initiatives, assist with self-assessments, and address any potential noncompliance issues.
- Evaluate the applicability of global trade control requirements to various business programs.
- Develop and implement regulatory documentation for business programs involving multiple agencies and authorization types.
- Collaborate on initiatives within a team-oriented environment.
- Ensure accurate classification of goods under Harmonized System (HS) codes and appropriate valuation for duties and taxes.
- Engage with customs authorities, courier agents, and other external departments to facilitate seamless trade operations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 4 years of experience in trade compliance, import/export regulations, customs brokerage, or global trade controls. Alternatively, candidates with over 8 years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) SNAP-R licensing platform.
- Experience with SAP systems.
- Proficient in MS Excel.
- Ability to develop and present information to senior leadership.
- Knowledge of U.S. Government contracts and import/export terms.
- Experience in customer/supplier screening and due diligence.
- Capability to create and deliver training materials.
- Understanding of Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS)/Schedule B Coding.
- Possession of a Bachelor's degree or higher.
