We are seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join our team at UVA Health Northern VA & Culpeper. As a key member of our radiology department, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and obtaining high-quality ultrasound images.

Patient Care:

  • Ensures patient safety and comfort while in the radiology department.
  • Utilizes data received from patient satisfaction and practice performance results to identify opportunities to improve and participates in the planning and improvement process.
  • Immediately cleans spills following universal precautions.
  • Properly stores accessory equipment when not in use.
  • Facilitates and participates in regular staff meetings.

Technical Competency:

  • Follows routine standards and properly and safely manipulates equipment, within its limitations, to obtain images.
  • Maintains sterile equipment and fields.
  • Performs any necessary warm-up and quality control procedures on the equipment.
  • Uses protocols to obtain images of internal structures.
  • Critiques images for quality and makes necessary judgments to determine if repeat is necessary.

The ideal candidate will have an Associate's Degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography and meet the education requirement for diagnostic medical ultrasound certification with ARDMS or ARRT. Experience in sonography is preferred, and the ability to perform diagnostic procedures and meet the specific needs of various patient age groups is essential.
