Job Description

MIT Libraries-Liaison, Instruction & Reference Services (LIRS), seeks a highly skilled professional to support departments in biology, biological engineering, and brain and cognitive sciences. The successful candidate will report to the LIRS department head and collaborate with faculty and researchers to enhance research support, teaching, and service delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop outreach strategies to promote research support and information literacy
  • Aid in information and data management, including data cleaning and version control
  • Teach critical information skills and support open access initiatives
  • Participate in project teams and the LIRS science and engineering community of practice
  • Support diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice initiatives
Requirements
  • Advanced degree in a relevant discipline or MLS/MLIS
  • At least three years of experience with data and scholarly information in research
  • Demonstrated skills in science and engineering contexts, including research support and outreach
  • Support for the Libraries' commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility
  • Knowledge of biosciences and engineering literature
  • Strong collaboration, organizational, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience managing bioscience data sets
  • Familiarity with data cleaning, version control, and reproducible research tools
  • Awareness of research trends and ethical, legal, and policy issues in science and engineering
