Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Specialist to join our team at Atrium Health. As a Medical Laboratory Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing clinical information for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform laboratory analysis on received specimens, ensuring accuracy and quality in test results.
  • Prepare reagents, maintain inventory, and manage supplies to optimize departmental efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Exercise clinical judgment in prioritizing tasks, identifying problems, and offering solutions to test systems.
  • Assist with review and revision of procedures and documentation related to accreditation, adhering to regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain clear communication with leadership and colleagues regarding issues, concerns, and problems affecting patient care or department operations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as Medical Technology or Laboratory Science.
  • MT (ASCP) or MLS (ASCP) certification or registry eligibility within one year of hire.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment, handling biohazardous materials and equipment.

Physical Requirements: Standing, walking, stretching, stooping, bending, and lifting light to moderately heavy loads.
