Job Title: Contractor Monitor

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual to fill the role of Contractor Monitor at Brookfield Renewable. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring that our construction contractors adhere to the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental practices.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with design specifications, contracts, and schedules.
  • Ensure contractors and their employees adhere to safety and environmental regulations.
  • Attend pre-bid and pre-construction meetings, documenting minutes.
  • Prepare job planning documentation in collaboration with project stakeholders.
  • Conduct regular inspections to verify that work is performed in accordance with contract drawings, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and submit daily construction reports, highlighting health and safety, environmental, and construction progress.
  • Recommend corrective actions to management as issues arise.
  • Assess the quality of safety and environmental discussions and written daily job plans.
  • Conduct safe work and environmental observations on medium and high-risk work.
  • Attend all contractor health, safety, and environmental meetings.
  • Conduct post-work evaluations on health and safety, environmental, technical, project management, and financial performance.
Requirements:
  • A strong interest in renewable energy production, specifically hydroelectric power.
  • A desire to work in the field in different environments and with various contractors.
  • Basic knowledge to inspect in-progress construction work and ensure compliance with contract documents, specifications, permits, and drawings.
  • Ability to organize, plan, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks and projects.
  • Good oral, written, and interpersonal skills to interface and coordinate work with other Brookfield divisions and external organizations.
  • Good negotiation skills with clients, contractors, and vendors.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal daily supervision.
  • A practical, adaptable, innovative, collaborative, and solution-focused approach to issues.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
Assets:
  • Experience in engineering or construction management.
  • Experience or exposure in the hydropower, wind power, or power generation field.
  • Field experience related to the hazards associated with the work.
  • Training in occupational health and safety and environmental regulation.

This position requires a valid driver's license and a motor vehicle report (MVR) that shows driving history.

Salary: $70k-95k/yr.
