Key Responsibilities
  • Project management for public and private jobs
  • Learning to find, bid, and build heavy construction projects
  • Working with current bidding software
  • Setting up contracts and subcontracts
  • Collaborating with estimators, project managers, and construction crew foremen
  • Asphalt plant operations, including working with plant operators, yard crew, and loader operators
  • Learning to run scales and assist with general maintenance of the plant
  • Working on construction crews and prep crews, learning from foremen
  • Understanding construction equipment and its various uses
  • Business management, including working with the Operations Manager/accounting on monthly projections, understanding job cost, reviewing workload, and reviewing financial statements
  • Aggregate manufacturing and sales, including working in an aggregate location, learning about various materials, and understanding basic operations and logistics
Requirements
  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public
  • Be willing to travel and work away from home when required
  • Be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary
  • Report to the assigned job site ready to begin work at the designated start time

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and experience: working towards a Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Construction Management or Operations Management from a college or technical school; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficiency with Windows, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is required.
