Nurse Anesthetist

The Ambulatory Nurse Anesthetist is responsible for providing high-quality anesthesia care to patients in an outpatient setting. This role requires strong clinical skills, excellent communication, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Minimum Qualifications- Education: Graduate of an accredited registered nursing program and a graduate of an AANA-accredited program for Nurse Anesthetist.
- Experience: Not applicable.
- Licensure/Certification/Registration: Current license in Minnesota to practice as a Registered Nurse; Registered Nurse license in the State of Wisconsin if assigned to Anesthesia Outreach; must complete and pass a qualifying examination/certification as CRNA within one (1) year of hire.
- Certifications: BLS Certification with a designation of either BLS Provider or Healthcare Provider from either the American Heart Association or American Red Cross or Military Training Network; ACLS and PALS certifications upon hire.

- Knowledge: Knowledgeable in anesthesia machines; ability to work well with MDs, MDAs, CRNAs, Anesthesia Assistant, Anesthesia Attendant, Surgery and PACU personnel and other Hospital departments.
- Communication: Ability to communicate orally and written.
- Physical and Mental Health: Maintain good physical and mental health; maintain professional quality and appearance; punctuality.
- Leadership: Assign work load to CRNAs; trouble shoot equipment problems; order equipment and supplies as needed; assist with policies/procedures, budget, etc.; attend meetings as necessary.
- Collaboration: Work with MDAs, CRNAs and PACU as needed; work with Vice President of Patient Services, Director of Surgical Services and Chief of Anesthesiology.
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds; stand - frequently 1/3 to 2/ hours; walk - frequently 1/3 to 2/ hours; sit - frequently 1/3 to 2/ hours; use hands to finger, handle, or feel - continuously over 2/ hours; reach with hands and arms - continuously over 2/ hours; stoop, squat, kneel, or crouch - occasionally under 1/ hours; bending-repetitive forward - continuously over 2/ hours; talk or hear - continuously over 2/ hours.
- Lifting Requirements: Up to 10 pounds - continuously over 2/ hours; up to 25 pounds - continuously over 2/ hours; up to 35 pounds - frequently 1/3 to 2/ hours; up to 50 pounds - occasionally under 1/ hours.
- Work Environment: Occasional exposure to laser vision/vision screening; moderate noise (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic).
