Job Summary

As a Paramedic in our Emergency Department, you will be an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Provide rapid evaluation and assessment of patients, communicating their needs to the care team.
  • Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to deliver patient-centered care.
  • Initiate action to improve patient outcomes based on clinical priorities.
  • Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment, ensuring patient privacy and dignity.
  • Act as a patient advocate, communicating effectively with patients and families.
  • Utilize triage skills to prioritize incoming patients and facilitate efficient care delivery.
  • Perform basic data collection, prepare patients for exams, and communicate findings to the primary nurse.
  • Facilitate blood draws and IV starts as ordered, in coordination with the primary nurse.
  • Transport patients via wheelchair or stretcher as needed throughout the facility.
Requirements
  • Completion of OEMS-approved training and competency program for Paramedic and current North Carolina Paramedic Certification.
  • Certification in BCLS, ACLS, and PALS.
  • Six months of experience in a pre-hospital environment as a Paramedic.
Work Environment

UNC Medical Center is a Level 1 Trauma Center, serving as North Carolina's primary referral hospital and community hospital for Chapel Hill/Orange County. Our Emergency Department cares for patients ranging from minor illnesses and injuries to critical medical emergencies and trauma patients.

What We Offer
  • Full-time position with 12-hour shifts available.
  • Competitive salary range: $22.45 - $32.27 per hour.
  • Exempt from overtime.
