Job Title: Bookkeeper - Franchise Location

At H&R Block, we're seeking a skilled Bookkeeper to join our team as an experienced professional. As a Bookkeeper, you'll play a vital role in delivering exceptional bookkeeping, payroll, and customer service to our clients.

About the Role:

We're looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented individual with a strong background in bookkeeping and payroll. Your expertise will be essential in maintaining accurate financial records, reconciling accounts, and generating financial statements. You'll also be responsible for preparing and processing payroll, generating 1099s and W2s, and communicating with clients and vendors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Post financial transactions into subsidiary books and general ledgers
  • Reconcile and balance accounts
  • Generate and analyze financial statements
  • Prepare and process payroll
  • Generate 1099s and W2s and calculate and prepare tax statements
  • Communicate with clients, client suppliers, vendors, and banking contacts
  • Assist in client retention and client growth opportunities
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • National bookkeeping and payroll certifications from the National Bookkeeping Association, or the ability to successfully obtain certifications
  • 1-3 years of bookkeeping experience
  • Knowledge of bookkeeping practices and generally accepted accounting principles & procedures
  • Ability to correctly interpret and apply complete instructions, policies, and regulations
  • Ability to treat confidential information with professionalism and discretion
  • Analytical skills and an eye for details
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to multi-task and work independently
