Position Overview:

The Radiation Therapy Technician will be tasked with the following responsibilities:

  • Administering radiation treatments accurately as prescribed by the medical team.
  • Confirming prescription specifics, patient records, and identification details.
  • Familiarity with ARIA EMR, including carepath and encounters, is beneficial.
  • Upholding a high standard of professionalism at all times.
  • Communicating effectively within the clinical setting.
  • Guiding patients through treatment reactions and care as directed by the Radiation Oncologist.
  • Monitoring patients' clinical progress during radiation therapy, using clinical judgment to identify and report any complications or unusual reactions to nursing staff or the Radiation Oncologist.
  • Safely operating various simulation and treatment technologies, including 2D/3D, IGRT, IMRT, SBRT, and SRS.
  • Following radiation safety protocols to ensure the well-being of both patients and staff.
  • Observing patients during treatment using auditory and visual methods.
  • Preparing treatment areas and equipment according to the treatment plan, including immobilization devices and safety measures.
  • Conducting machine safety checks and warm-up procedures, understanding operational limits, and reporting any discrepancies to the appropriate authority. Performing necessary quality assurance for machines and treatments.
  • Creating immobilization devices and applying custom blocking techniques as per the prescribed radiation therapy.
  • Maintaining electronic treatment records, including SSDs and treatment setup modifications, and notifying relevant personnel of missed appointments.
  • Managing the daily treatment schedule efficiently.
  • Adhering to the Radiation Therapist Code of Ethics.
  • Being flexible to work shifts as assigned by the scheduling manager.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is preferred.
Qualifications:
  • Current ARRT Certification.
  • Active Florida License.
  • Current CPR certification.
