Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Authorization Specialist to join our team at Samuel Contract Staffing. As a Medical Authorization Specialist, you will be responsible for obtaining pre-authorization for various medical procedures and services, ensuring timely and efficient processing of patient requests.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Obtain pre-authorization for office visits, cardiac device services, imaging, in-patient, out-patient procedures, and ASC services for all payer types.
  • Collaborate with team members and departments to ensure accurate patient demographic information and clinical notes are acquired prior to initiation of the prior-authorization process.
  • Act as a liaison for ancillary and clinical departments, communicating with internal and external referring providers, insurance carriers, and patients regarding eligibility and pre-authorization/certification functions.
  • Review patient eligibility, update patient demographics, and document patient's preferred facility.

Requirements:

  • Some college education preferred; minimum high school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum one year of experience in medical office with emphasis on commercial and government prior-authorization requirements.
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification from AAPC preferred.
