Overview of Responsibilities:

As a Personal Support Specialist, you will provide essential assistance in daily living activities as specified in the individual's Person-Centered Plan of Service (IPOS). Your role is to support residents in a manner that fosters their growth, health, safety, dignity, and respect. You will work collaboratively with team members and residents, contributing to the smooth operation of the homes while ensuring safety and cost-effectiveness. You will also identify areas for improvement and actively engage in their implementation.


Qualifications & Requirements:
  1. Must successfully complete the required training for the position.
  2. Must be 18 years of age or older.
  3. High school diploma or GED/Competency Test is required.
  4. Ability to interact positively and supportively with individuals.
  5. Completion of all personnel hiring requirements.
  6. Three acceptable references.
  7. Current, valid Driver's License (if applicable).
  8. Negative TB Test.
  9. Ability to adhere to CDC protocols for COVID-19 safety, including wearing a face mask while working (when applicable).
  10. Strong teamwork skills.

Key Competencies for the Role:

Provide comprehensive support in all aspects of daily living as required by the individual. This may include lifting, assisting with transfers, moving wheelchairs, bathing, grooming, and diapering.
Demonstrate safe and appropriate techniques in assisting with personal hygiene and grooming.
Administer medication correctly and responsibly.

Support individuals in achieving their personal goals as outlined in their IPOS. Encourage participation and involvement in the community.
When assistance is needed, help individuals make informed choices and advocate for their needs and desires.
Follow established on-call or emergency procedures.
Interact and communicate respectfully with all individuals.
Conduct activities in a manner that prioritizes the health and safety of both residents and staff.
