Manufacturing Scale-Up Leader for Climate Impact

Los Angeles, California, United States Avnos, Inc. Full time

Transforming Climate through Manufacturing Excellence

At Avnos, Inc., we're pioneering direct air capture of carbon dioxide to mitigate climate change. As our Vice President of Manufacturing, you'll spearhead the transition from pilot-scale production to large-scale, high-volume manufacturing and distribution.

This strategic role will join our senior leadership team and report directly to the CEO. You'll be instrumental in scaling our supply chain, production, and production strategy, reducing costs and ensuring seamless execution.

  • You'll develop and implement a growth strategy for our technology, transitioning from custom-built demo scales to designed-for-large-scale manufacturing and on-site assembly.
  • Position Avnos to bridge from First-of-A-Kind (FOAK) to Non-Recurring Engineering (NRE) development, maintaining our competitive edge while driving costs out of manufacturing and assembly.
  • Formulate and execute strategies to grow, diversify, and optimize our supply chain, reduce costs, and improve operational efficiency.
  • Build and manage high-performing teams across multiple functional areas, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Identify and roll out forecasting, planning, and tooling that supports best practices in manufacturing ramp-up.

About the Ideal Candidate

  • 8+ years in senior leadership roles within the 'zero-to-one' stages of manufacturing for large-scale, high-volume hardware assets in relevant industries such as automotive, solar, coatings, batteries, renewable infrastructure, and aerospace.
  • A proven track record of successfully bringing manufacturing initiatives from pilot level to global-scale execution.
  • Critical skills for moving a team through phases of manufacturing scale-up: low-volume fabrication and manufacturing to high-volume manufacturing line build-out or contract manufacturing; ramping up through engineering, design, and production validation to process optimization and continuous improvement.
  • Background in strategic operations management, design for manufacturability and scalability, implementation of lean manufacturing principles, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • At least a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing, or related field; advanced degree (MBA or relevant Master's) preferred.
  • Comfort navigating ambiguity, change management, and creating stability for your team despite changing priorities and startup pace.

We Value

  • Safety: Feedback and candor are encouraged and met with curiosity regardless of title. We show courage to speak up, own problems along with solutions, focus on task conflict (not personal conflict), and care for each other.
  • Ownership: Empowerment, while bringing people along through clear, crisp, early communication; follow-through; taking full accountability; showing up even (especially) when it is hard; integrity; pride in one's work and pride in our work.
  • Teamwork: Proactive collaboration, knowing we are greater than the sum of our parts; bringing each other along in our language, decisions, and trade-offs so teammates are equipped to partner with us; thoughtful disagreement and discourse and support each other to identify blind spots and make wise decisions; generosity with our gratitude and recognition of others.
  • Growth Mindset: New ideas require creativity and risk-taking, we embrace failure as a means to learn. We tolerate the discomfort of being a beginner in an industry that is solving the unsolved. Feedback is a vote of confidence and an offer of support to develop our ideas into great work.
  • Achievement: Bias for action while maintaining the highest standards. We practice prioritization, discipline, and focus in the service of achieving our goals and creating a lasting impact.

Your Compensation Package

  • Estimated base salary range: $250,000 - $300,000, determined based on market and individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process.
  • Additional components such as equity and benefits may be included in the final compensation package.
