Project Manager

The Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the management of personnel in all areas of construction and operations, ensuring the maintenance of all equipment while estimating costs of maintenance and repair. This role requires strong leadership and organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities- Manage all mechanical construction activities associated with Darling Ingredients or its subsidiaries.
- Responsible for scheduling and supervising mechanical field personnel, addressing any issues that may arise.
- Procure and select mechanical equipment and supplies necessary for timely construction progress.
- Supervise and procure sub-contractors for construction of processing facilities and buildings.
- Direct supervision of corporate electricians, field mechanical coordinators, and special projects coordinators, as well as subcontracted millwrights.
- Collaborate with the Director of Mechanical Installations to resolve ongoing problems or situations.
- Assist in the design and layout of new equipment or upgrades to existing equipment.
- Troubleshoot equipment when efficiencies fall below standards at Darling Ingredients facilities.
- Track progress on construction jobs weekly, developing a list of completed and outstanding tasks for each ongoing job.
- Coordinate ongoing and upcoming jobs, ensuring sufficient labor for timely completion.
- Manage on-site job costs related to construction and installation of capital investment projects.
- Communicate and interface with upper management, including the VP of Operations, District Managers, General Managers, Plant Managers, and Production Managers.
- Oversee large-scale equipment change-outs, including parts, equipment, labor scheduling, and task coordination to minimize downtime.
- Procure, supervise, and ensure the safety of sub-contractors for construction of facilities or buildings.
- Supervise Darling employees involved in construction or equipment installation.
- Assist in the start-up of installed equipment.
- Maintain tools and equipment owned by Darling Ingredients and used by oneself or others under supervision.
- Fulfill Maintenance Supervisor duties as needed, both day and night shifts.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in implementing and coordinating high-level construction and process operations.
- Millwright and rendering experience preferred.
- Prior supervisory experience is a must; construction experience is preferred.
- Good working knowledge of PLCs and programming; general mechanical background.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work professionally with others.
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude.
Job functions will be carried out in indoor and outdoor plant environments, as well as in personal vehicles as required. Temperature will fluctuate depending on outside conditions.
