Therapeutic Support Specialist

As a Therapeutic Support Specialist at North Port Behavioral Health, you will play a vital role in planning, directing, and coordinating individualized and group therapeutic support and services to patients with mental health, behavioral health, and substance abuse issues.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive social history assessments of patients through observation and patient/family interviews, gathering information on their needs, skills, interests, and limitations to develop and implement effective treatment plans.
- Coordinate and plan programs and activities to meet patients' social and emotional needs, promoting recovery, symptom reduction, and the achievement of the highest level of social functioning.
- Provide crisis management and family sessions to assist families in understanding the implications and complexities of a life situation and its impact on lifestyle.
- Assist in the development of treatment plans that apply therapeutic principles appropriately while ensuring patient safety at all times.
- Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings to discuss patient assessment, treatment plans, and ongoing discharge plans.
- Communicate with or aid family members in understanding and supporting patients.
- Manage a caseload and assume responsibility for patient chart documentation.
- Facilitate education, process groups, support groups, and referrals as requested.
- Demonstrate a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude towards customers always, acknowledging and working to resolve complaints when patient needs are not met.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work from an accredited college or university, including new graduates.
- One or more years' experience working with patient populations preferred.
- Eligibility for state licensure as a Licensed Social Worker (LSW), Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC), Certified Addictions Counselor (CAC), Registered Addiction Counselor (RAC), as required by the state in which the facility is operating.
- CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required.
