About the Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Critical Care Services team at Grand Itasca. As a critical care nurse, you will provide high-quality patient care to patients with complex medical conditions, including acute myocardial infarction, congestive heart failure, post-trauma, shock, diabetic ketoacidosis, acute croup, and surgical patients.

Job Duties
  • Provide quality care to patients and ensure patient safety throughout the continuum of patient care.
  • Advocate for patients, respecting advanced directives and patient decisions.
  • Complete admission assessments according to unit policy, utilizing past medical history, therapeutic communication, and physical assessment.
  • Utilize critical thinking and analysis to identify nursing diagnoses and collaborative problems.
  • Maintain accurate, objective patient records.
  • Ensure efficiency and accuracy of orders.
  • Assume patient care responsibilities by organizing workload effectively and remaining flexible to environmental changes.
  • Utilize departmental equipment correctly and efficiently, demonstrating knowledge of special preparations or equipment needed for department-specific procedures.
Required Qualifications
  • Registered with the Minnesota Board of Nursing.
  • BSN preferred.
  • Equivalent of one (1) year Critical Care experience or two (2) years Medical Surgical experience within the past five years.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications required and maintain certification.
  • Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) or attain certification within six months of employment and maintain certification.
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) or Comprehensive Advance Life Support (CALS) certification or attain certification within 12 months of initial orientation in the emergency department and maintain certification.
  • ECG recognition/interpretation within six months of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) CCRN certification preferred.
