The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a dedicated Operator to become part of our team. In this position, you will be responsible for the upkeep, repair, and replacement of bridges and structural elements while ensuring compliance with safety regulations and departmental protocols.

Essential Qualifications

  • Capacity to engage in strenuous physical labor
  • Understanding of roadway and bridge upkeep techniques and safety measures
  • Proficiency in handling light and medium-duty machinery, as well as hand and power tools
  • Adept at performing calculations related to bridge components
  • Mandatory use of safety footwear
  • Eligibility to acquire a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and Department of Transportation (DOT) medical certification
  • Experience in carpentry, concrete work, and welding
  • Comfortable working at elevated heights, over water, in high-traffic areas, and under challenging conditions

Additional Qualifications

  • Background in carpentry, concrete work, and bridge maintenance
  • Familiarity with tools and equipment
  • Valid Certified Crane Operator credentials with necessary endorsements
  • Educational background in Construction or a related discipline preferred
  • Experience in welding steel structures
  • Possession of a valid Commercial Driver's License with endorsements
  • Prior experience as a flagger
