Superintendent of Bridge and Structure Maintenance

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Superintendent of Bridge and Structure Maintenance to join our team at the Commonwealth of Virginia. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for planning and directing the repair, maintenance, and replacement of bridges and structures within our geographical area.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and direct the maintenance and repair of bridges and structures to ensure compliance with established safety standards, VDOT specifications, and procedures.
- Manage a team of maintenance personnel to ensure efficient and effective completion of maintenance and repair tasks.
- Develop and implement budgets, cost estimates, and inventory management plans to ensure optimal resource allocation.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless communication and coordination of maintenance and repair activities.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies related to bridge and structure maintenance.
- Valid driver's license.
- Considerable knowledge of bridge and structure maintenance methods, procedures, practices, and equipment.
- Knowledge of supervisory principles, policies, and practices, and experience managing supervisory and crew personnel.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to read and interpret bridge and structure plans and specifications.
- Possession of a valid CDL and DOT medical card.
- Experience preparing cost estimates, developing budgets, tracking costs, and preparing project reports.
- A combination of training, experience, or education in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Experience with procurement, inventory, and equipment management, and computer programs.
- Experience in maintenance and construction of bridges, culverts, and other highway structures, and supervisory experience in a maintenance and construction environment.
