We are seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Healthcare Support Specialist to join our team at Kaiser Permanente in San Marcos, California. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide exceptional patient care and support to our patients and their families.

**Job Summary:**

  • Under the supervision of licensed medical professionals, perform routine patient care tasks, assist with exams, and educate patients and their families on various health topics.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Administer vital signs, wound cleaning, and other nursing care functions as directed by licensed medical professionals.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies and recognize acute situations, utilizing your critical thinking skills to ensure patient safety.
  • Prepare and administer injection solutions upon physician orders, maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Orient patients to our healthcare system policies and practices, ensuring a smooth transition into care.
  • Provide instruction sheets and review them with patients, promoting patient empowerment and autonomy.
  • Transport patients and assist with treatments, demonstrating empathy and compassion in all interactions.
  • Prepare treatment rooms and assist licensed providers with patient care, maintaining a clean and organized environment.
  • Prepare and transport medical equipment and specimens, adhering to strict protocols and guidelines.
  • Clean and disinfect instruments and equipment, upholding high standards of infection control.
  • Familiarize yourself with Universal Precautions, prioritizing patient and staff safety.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed departmental files, reporting incidents and near-misses in a timely manner.
  • Initiate and complete diagnostic test forms, telephone prescriptions, and chart patient medical records with precision and accuracy.
  • Collect and preserve specimens for testing, following established protocols and procedures.
  • Participate in Departmental Quality Assurance Activities, contributing to continuous improvement and excellence.

**Qualifications:**

  • Minimum 1 year pediatric experience (for Pediatrics assignments)
  • Completion of a Medical Office Assistant program with certification and 6 months experience or 12 months equivalent experience

**Requirements:**

  • Ability to give and follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to work effectively with the public, demonstrating excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Valid CPR certification for ambulatory care settings

**Estimated Salary Range:** $42,000 - $55,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
