Key Responsibilities:

  • Process purchase orders for production materials, identifying sources, determining procurement methods, selecting suppliers, and issuing purchase orders.
  • Maintain and foster positive relationships with suppliers.
  • Provide guidance on production schedules concerning lead times and pricing of assigned materials to align with production objectives.
  • Communicate with suppliers regarding order processing to resolve issues and confirm order acknowledgments.
  • Request quotes for costs and lead times from approved suppliers.
  • Review and address discrepancies in supplier invoices.
  • Collaborate with management to ensure incoming materials meet quality assurance standards.
  • Review and validate purchase price variances.
  • Manage office and shop supply levels.
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist in maintaining optimal stock levels as directed by the Supply Chain Manager.
  • Support Buyer II and Supply Chain Manager in daily procurement activities.
  • Assist with administrative tasks for local management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience in procurement within a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational capabilities.
  • Proficient in mathematics and analytical skills.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to adapt in a changing environment.

Physical and Environmental Requirements:

  • Comfortable working in a traditional manufacturing setting, including wearing personal protective equipment and regularly walking the plant floor.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer.
