Core Responsibilities
Classroom Duties
- Ensure that every student feels recognized, valued, and challenged on a daily basis.
- Create a positive and secure learning atmosphere.
- Design and master rigorous and engaging lesson plans, utilizing available curricula and intellectual preparation tools.
- When necessary, develop and internalize lesson plans, unit plans, rubrics, and assessments that align with academic standards.
- Establish specific, ambitious growth objectives for all students and utilize all available resources to help them achieve these goals.
- Innovate best practices to deliver engaging, differentiated instruction that meets the rigorous needs of all students.
- Implement school-wide or grade-level student culture systems and proactive classroom management techniques.
- Regularly assess student work and academic data to adjust lessons, refine curricula, and enhance instructional practices.
- Maintain accurate and current student records and grades, fostering strong communication with students and their families regarding academic progress.
School and Professional Engagement
- Complete required certifications and endorsements with support from KIPP Massachusetts within the first year of employment, including free study assistance.
- Engage in school-wide and individual professional development, including summer training and weekly sessions during the academic year.
- Take ownership of your professional growth by seeking and applying feedback from your coach and collaborating with colleagues.
- Fulfill assigned duties, including classroom coverage and supervision during transitions and lunch periods.
- Build strong relationships with families through active participation in school events and consistent communication.
- Be open to providing and receiving constructive feedback to foster a professional environment conducive to accountability and improvement.
- Collaborate with grade-level and content teams to address common challenges and implement shared systems for student success.
- Demonstrate dependable attendance in accordance with the school calendar, proactively communicating any attendance issues.

- Demonstrate sufficient physical strength to lift and carry materials as needed and to ensure student safety during emergencies.
- Exhibit manual dexterity to perform repetitive tasks and operate office equipment.
