Core Responsibilities

Classroom Duties
  • Ensure that every student feels recognized, valued, and challenged on a daily basis.
  • Create a positive and secure learning atmosphere.
  • Design and master rigorous and engaging lesson plans, utilizing available curricula and intellectual preparation tools.
  • When necessary, develop and internalize lesson plans, unit plans, rubrics, and assessments that align with academic standards.
  • Establish specific, ambitious growth objectives for all students and utilize all available resources to help them achieve these goals.
  • Innovate best practices to deliver engaging, differentiated instruction that meets the rigorous needs of all students.
  • Implement school-wide or grade-level student culture systems and proactive classroom management techniques.
  • Regularly assess student work and academic data to adjust lessons, refine curricula, and enhance instructional practices.
  • Maintain accurate and current student records and grades, fostering strong communication with students and their families regarding academic progress.

School and Professional Engagement
  • Complete required certifications and endorsements with support from KIPP Massachusetts within the first year of employment, including free study assistance.
  • Engage in school-wide and individual professional development, including summer training and weekly sessions during the academic year.
  • Take ownership of your professional growth by seeking and applying feedback from your coach and collaborating with colleagues.
  • Fulfill assigned duties, including classroom coverage and supervision during transitions and lunch periods.
  • Build strong relationships with families through active participation in school events and consistent communication.
  • Be open to providing and receiving constructive feedback to foster a professional environment conducive to accountability and improvement.
  • Collaborate with grade-level and content teams to address common challenges and implement shared systems for student success.
  • Demonstrate dependable attendance in accordance with the school calendar, proactively communicating any attendance issues.
