Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Quality Assurance Technician to join our team at Michael Foods Inc. in Lenox, Iowa. As a Quality Assurance Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and safety of our products, from incoming ingredients to finished goods.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform periodic in-process quality checks, including weights, dimensions, temperature, and sensory evaluations.
  • Inspect incoming packaging materials and ingredients for proper labeling, coding, and adherence to manufacturing specifications.
  • Conduct finished product checks, including case weights, case counts, packaging integrity, and case coding.
  • Assist in drafting, revising, and maintaining plant standard operating procedures.
  • Act as a liaison between Production, Distribution, Sanitation, Maintenance, and the Quality Department.
  • Participate in plant food safety/quality inspections, in-process inspections, mock recall, label audits, HACCP audits, and thermometer calibrations as required.
  • Verify proper set-up of production lines at start-up and shift change, including printer set-up, packaging materials, labeling, and quality limits.
  • Verify sanitary condition of production lines prior to start-up and after downtime requiring maintenance activity.
  • Verify compliance with label stated weights and associated regulations for all products.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, including safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, and speak effectively before groups.
  • Basic proficiency using computer programs (MS Office) for collecting and analyzing data, and writing procedures and reports.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's) and ability to coach/train others on GMP's.
  • Ability to participate in cross-functional teams, and data collection, analysis, and reporting skills.
Working Conditions

This position requires working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, with frequent exposure to noise, dust, and other hazards. The successful candidate must be able to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
