Position Overview
The role of the Licensed Practical Nurse involves providing essential clinical support within our medical group. This includes effective communication of clinical information to patients, scheduling necessary tests and consultations, and obtaining clinical specimens. The nurse will also assess patients, perform clinical office procedures, and ensure the availability of clinical supplies.
Key Responsibilities
As a Licensed Practical Nurse, your duties will include:
- Accurately documenting patients' medical histories and vital signs.
- Administering immunizations and injections as required.
- Providing health-related counseling to patients.
- Managing the ordering and maintenance of clinical supplies and pharmaceuticals.
- Coordinating referrals to additional medical services.
- Facilitating consultations with specialists.
- Triaging phone calls and responding to patient portal inquiries.
- Securing prior authorizations for medications and diagnostic tests.
- Assisting physicians with medical and surgical procedures.
- Adhering to universal precautions to ensure patient safety.
- Maintaining quality assurance standards for office laboratory operations.
- Employing proper lifting techniques to prevent injury.
- Collaborating with pharmacies to ensure patients have adequate medication supplies.
Qualifications
To be considered for this position, candidates must possess:
- A nursing diploma or degree from an accredited institution.
- Licensure by the State of Tennessee.
- A minimum of one year of experience in a medical office setting.
- Proficiency in using medical equipment such as glucometers, blood pressure cuffs, thermometers, and computers.
Work Environment
This position is primarily office-based, requiring the ability to sit, stand, and communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Candidates should be capable of lifting items weighing over 20 pounds.
