The Residential Appraisal Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing all aspects of appraisal analysis and evaluation to ensure adherence to Interagency Appraisal and Evaluation Guidelines. Compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies is of utmost importance. This role also manages the Appraisal Reconsideration of Value (ROV) process and effectively communicates outcomes to clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough comparisons and analyses of complex appraisal data to confirm accuracy, compliance, value, and marketability.
- Underwrite all conventional appraisals in accordance with Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Investor, and Portfolio guidelines, achieving a minimum of 8-10 appraisals daily with a turnaround time of 24 hours.
- Perform comprehensive residential appraisal reviews focusing on value, marketability, and eligibility for mortgage and equity programs.
- Examine appraisal reports to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies, confirming adherence to industry quality control benchmarks.
- Analyze messages from Fannie Mae Collateral Underwriter and Freddie Mac Loan Collateral Advisor, as well as comparable listings, to resolve discrepancies.
- Review findings from the Appraisal Scorecard to address and rectify any inconsistencies.
- Request, assess, and authorize necessary appraisal revisions while upholding Appraisal Independence Requirements (AIR).
- Verify appraisals against condo questionnaires, title commitments, flood certifications, and purchase agreements for precision.
- Oversee the Appraisal Reconsideration of Value process to ensure timely and accurate completion in line with bank policies and procedures.
- Foster strong relationships with bank-approved appraisers, ensuring prompt delivery of appraisals, revisions, and ROV requests while addressing quality control issues.
- Exhibit strong organizational skills and attention to detail, capable of working independently in a dynamic team environment.
- Perform additional responsibilities as needed.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in appraisal underwriting; appraiser experience is preferred.
- Familiarity with federal and local regulations regarding lending activities, including Appraisal Independence Requirements (AIR).
- Experience with Fannie Mae Collateral Underwriter and Freddie Mac Loan Collateral Advisor tools.
- Ability to efficiently meet productivity standards while maintaining high-quality output.
- Thorough understanding of Agency and Investor lending guidelines with the capacity to swiftly adapt to guideline changes.
- Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, prioritization, and time management skills, along with strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Experience with Encompass Loan Origination System (LOS) is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows Environment, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
