Service Technician Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Service Technician to join our team at Southern Auto Group. As a Service Technician, you will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing vehicles to the highest standards of quality and safety.

Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose issues using experience, analysis, and testing
  • Perform routine service inspections and complete standard maintenance jobs
  • Repair automobiles and light trucks as assigned
  • Maintain cleanliness of vehicles while performing service or repairs
  • Ensure required documentation is complete and in compliance with regulations and standards
  • Help maintain shop appearance and safety standards and ensure the shop runs efficiently
  • Follow all shop policies, procedures, safety, and environmental rules
  • Attend all staff meetings, training, and educational classes as required
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Post-secondary automotive training or equivalent work experience
  • Two years of dealer-level or large facility experience preferred
  • ASE certification (or willingness to obtain certification)
  • Virginia State Inspection License (or willingness to obtain license)
  • Broad scope of automotive mechanical/electrical knowledge
  • Unrestricted driver's license and clean driving record
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills
  • Highly professional and dependable
  • Safety and customer service-oriented
  • Basic computer and internet skills
