Job Summary

As the on-site administrative representative for the entire facility, this role oversees off-shifts and weekends, ensuring seamless patient care and regulatory compliance. Key responsibilities include managing patient care departments, ensuring quality care, and adhering to federal, state, and local requirements.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Manage off-hours and weekend patient care activities, ensuring staff provides high-quality care and adheres to regulations.
  • Coordinate and monitor staffing for all shifts, maintaining optimal staffing levels and skill mix.
  • Participate in developing, reviewing, and updating departmental policies and procedures.
  • Identify and implement best practices to enhance quality care and services.
  • Assess and monitor clinical nursing practice for optimal patient care.
  • Design and evaluate processes to improve systems and patient care results across the continuum.
  • Follow up on all clinical issues and monitor quality of care delivered.
  • Supervise staff, assess their needs, and identify educational opportunities.
  • Collaborate with all departments throughout the medical center and act as a patient advocate.
  • Assist in developing, monitoring, and maintaining the budget, identifying opportunities to reduce costs.
  • Manage and resolve human resource, employee, and department safety, and risk management issues.
Basic Qualifications
  • Minimum two years of nursing experience required.
  • Minimum two years of experience as a charge nurse, preceptor, quality improvement champion, or other related leadership experience.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Registered Nurse License (California).
  • Basic Life Support.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
Additional Requirements
  • Evidence of training completion as a preceptor or charge nurse.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of quality improvement, clinical care delivery processes, staffing, and budgeting.
  • Knowledge of the Nursing Practice Act, The Joint Commission, and other federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum one year of critical care or emergency department nursing experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
