Position Overview:


The Mammography Specialist operates advanced imaging equipment to capture high-quality radiographic images of designated body areas, adhering to physician directives and established protocols. This role prioritizes patient needs, fostering strong relationships with members and ensuring their comfort throughout the imaging process.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Adhere to all quality, safety, and emergency protocols established by Kaiser Permanente.
  • Ensure patient safety during care provision, including medication administration and procedural protocols.
  • Instruct patients courteously about imaging procedures and position them appropriately for mammographic and radiographic examinations.
  • Review and assess images for accuracy and quality, resubmitting as necessary for radiologist interpretation.
  • Implement ALARA principles to maintain radiation safety standards.
  • Assist in procedures such as biopsies, ensuring informed consent and proper documentation.
  • Utilize Radiology Information Systems (RIS) and Electronic Medical Records (EMR) in accordance with practice guidelines.
  • Monitor equipment functionality and report any malfunctions to the supervisor.
  • Maintain an adequate inventory of supplies in line with established levels.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and colleagues, demonstrating excellent telephone etiquette.
  • Consider the diverse needs of patients across various age groups in service delivery.
  • May operate mobile radiology equipment and assist with administrative tasks as needed.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Completion of a two-year Radiologic Technology program accredited by the American Medical Association.
  • Certification as a Mammography Technologist from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • Radiologic Technologist Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.

Additional Skills:
  • Proficient in operating radiologic equipment and performing technical procedures.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds.
  • Strong customer service orientation with a focus on patient-centered care.
  • Basic computer proficiency.

Preferred Experience:
  • Six months of experience as a radiologic technologist or mammographer.
